How Do Miniature Slip Rings Function?

      A slip ring is comprised of two distinct parts - a stator and a phase-wound motor. The stator is the outer visible part of a motor, while the three-phase windings are placed on a laminated core.

 

      miniature slip rings, or rotary electrical connectors or rotary electrical joints are small electrical devices that have evolved as an economical solution for power transfer between the static and dynamic components of a motor. They are the perfect juxtaposition of small size and huge performance, which mold it well for video-transmission and some other challenging applications.

      Miniature type of slip rings generally are available in wide range of diameters, measuring between 6 mm and 25 mm and containing circuit counts of between two and 56 circuits. Small diameter rotors have an overall positive effect on the unit's working life by reducing the surface speeds, which minimizes imbalance and operating temperatures. .With accelerating the speed of the rotor, the external resistance is reduced and the winding short-circuited.

.The motor's operational efficiency is increased when resistance decreases.

.The external resistance should be designed so as to vary the speed of the motor between half to full of the rated speed.
